A Rose for Phil

     With deep respect, we celebrate the memory of Phil Smith.
I only knew Phil through through emails. What I knew of him was that he was a talented sequencer, a kind and generous man, who befriended many in the MIDI community. He served in The United States Army and the Air Force. He was a loving husband to Jane, and father to, Samantha, Maureen, Jessica, & Peggy. It was with shock, when I learned of his passing in late 2005. His contributions to MIDI, and the care with which he created them will surely be missed; yet never forgotten. It is with honor, that his MIDI legacy will live on as long as this site exists. On behalf of many, best wishes and fond thoughts go out to his family and his love of music will go on. He shall remain in our hearts forever.

Let's now celebrate along with "Satman" as he takes us through the
50's 60's 70's & 80's.
Thank You, "Satman"

The following prayer is from Phil's service: and this was his favorite MIDI;

God saw you were getting tired
And a cure was not to be,
So he put his arms around you
And whispered, "Come to me."
With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
